Casual poet

2nd day in SG. I met up with my ex-colleagues from the advertising field and they were so envious of my joining the 'client side'. Yeah, it was always this upward career move for all AEs in the advertising field that everyone coveted.

On the way to Outram on the MRT, I passed by the beautiful Khatib view.
Rena: this is for you.

The design team brought me to this dodgy Jack's Place looking restaurant and I had the $12.50 grilled salmon set. OK food, but the service is incredibly fast. We finish the 2 course meal plus desset & coffee/tea in less than an hour.

And the soup of the day is charmingly-named Seafood Chowder with miniscule seafood bits and lots of corn & carrot in cream broth.

We had a lovely time chatting about old times and the teasings never stopped even after 3 years. It was a good I met them up to reminisce.

Sis and I met up after lunch and we went to Casual Poet for a bit of tea and just to chill. I heart Casual Poet! Ernest and I popped into this hole-in-the-wall cafe last year for just a minute and it stayed in my heart ever since. It is a great opportunity for my sis and I to just chill out here in this unique little cafe in Chinatown where art & drinks & snacks co-exist side by side.

And kudos to the music played! My sis said they could be easily in her iPod Touch fav playlist of easy listening & chilling out tunes.

My fav pic of the day. My sis commented I looked Japanese in this pic. This is one way to pose for pictures which make you look slimmer than you really are. You dun see my double chins here for sure.

Can you see my long long eye lashes? I love my new mascara!!!!!

Affogato. The choc cookie was a really nice touch.

The menu. It is recycled from old maps. How cool is that?

The afternoon sun gave the best light for photography.

Hole-in-the-wall Casual Poet is located along the busy New Bridge Road on level 3. The stairs climbing is hell.

They got 'hei1 ban3'! Old school man.....

Some random shot of a photo hang from the light in the cafe.

Although snacking is no good for you, we love the ham & cheese omelette and looked down on the lame baked beans.

And then since we are in Chinatown already, I took my sister 'chicken' spotting and visited the where-is-the-Buddha-tooth temple along Maxwell Road. Interesting to note that canned mushrooms & baked beans are main sacrifices to the idols.

I like this the best. He has many arms and many heads. Supposedly he knows everything.

They have the sutras, just like a Bible. Cool.

My legs are killing me towards the end of the day. We sardined our way back home on the MRT and will be seriously considering jamming ourselves happy in a car to town tomorrow. See how lah. Singapore is SOOO crowded.
