Not made in China

I guess everyone would know by now the milk scare in China has spread very quickly to Singapore. Within 2 days of the melamine scare in Chinese milk formula, AVA Singapore has issued orders for alot of made in China food in Singapore to be banished from the supermarket shelf.

Favs such as the White Rabbit candy and Dove milk chocs.

And very quickly, even Australia has pulled out Cadbury chocolates from their supermarket shelves because of this sensational news.

I have read news online where readers have voiced their fustrations over their daily grocery shopping because they are really scared of stuff, especially foodstuff, that are made in China for the fear of the potentially unscrupulous businessmen who would put unknown chemical in that instant noodle or that soya bean milk. It was a chore because almost everything nowadays is made in China.

Because of that fear, I became a tad nervous myself. When we go grocery shopping these days, I make conscious efforts to look at the packaging and only choosing food products that are not made in China. I hope I have not become too paranoid.

I am surprised that Singapore does manufacture alot of food stuff. Majullah Singapura!

there was once when Can and I were waiting for you in market city, we were browsing the shelves trying to get some packet chinese herbal soup stuff. the same kind of chicken soup herbs, we chose the made in SG pack over the made in China pack for patriotic reasons although it costs more than double the china ones! better safe than sorry...
