Hot, hotter, hottest

It was a beautiful Staurday morning. I have woken up to the alarm as I had to be at Gleneagles today at 9am for my LASIK pre-op check. I felt really loved today. My dad has made me a cup of instant cereal for brekkie. For all who knows me, my dad is not exactly my best friend. To have him making me breakfast and nagging me to eat bread is a huge leap of DOA (display of affection) for me.

Funny dad used my secondary school cup for my cereal. I hope he is not as lame as I thought he is. But awww...

Dad dropped me off at the MRT station (another surprising DOA) and I took the train to Orchard MRT. And me being me, I overestimated myself and thought, well, I will take a leisurely walk to Gleneagles from Orchard MRT station. I still have 1/2 hour to spare, and surely I have plenty of time?

WRONG! I have completely forgotten I am in hot and humid Singapore and by the time I reached Tudor Court at Tanglin, I was sweating buckets and cursing silently to myself for being a fool.

Check out my route. It slipped my mind that a leisurely half an hour walk in Singapore is not quite like a leisurely half an hour walk in Sydney. It was more like a chore here. Click on the picture to see my stupidity enlarged.

On the dot at 9am, I FINALLY reached Gleaneagles as sweaty and oily as a fish market shopping housewife and dun I look half-glamorous when I reached the eye center counter asking for the renowned Dr Lee.

Well, good news is after 2 hours of subjecting myself to a series of weird eyes tests, Dr Lee pronounced my corneas as very thick and perfect for blade-free Intralase type of surgery. I have immediately signed myself up for a Mon morning surgery to ensure I have the maximum healing time before I come back to Sydney. Dr Lee shook my hands and shared my enthusiasm of saying good bye to my glasses forever on Mon and send me on my way home. As the nurses have diluted my pupils before for a test, when I left the hospital, everything is so glaring like a overly exposed, badly filmed home video. I had to stagger home.

By the evening, my eyes are back to normal and I was all prepped up for Dot's hen night. Dot is getting married next week and tonight, we have planned a beautiful evening for her.

First, we went for a nice, but overly priced Gyu Ka-Ku Japanese BBQ Restaurant at CHIJimes. It is a BBQ restaurant and we were sort of worried for a while that we will come out of the restaurant smelling like beef, but they boasted they have this new-fanged technology that will spirit away the smell and they guaranteed you will still smell like you when you leave. After seeing the bill, of course they have to make sure of that. The price per person will make you wonder why they did not throw in a suite in the nearby Raffles Hotel as part of the bill. But ok lah, their food is really good. We had wagyu, from Australia (duh.....)

I bought a hen's night pack from Sydney for Dot. Good Dot is game enough to wear the mini veil and the L-plate. She looked so cute

Check out the menu for tonight. We had a good spread of beef, pork, duck, lamb & seafood.

One observation I made is, the entire Japanese restaurant is staffed by Filipinos. Does it sound funny to you yet? Dot has informed me that they are foreign talents and is valued by the government. Dun play play ok?!

Part 2 of the hen's night, I am proud to announce, was a resounding success. Due the the technological advancement of emails and the search engine google, the sisters of Dot's wedding have banded and enlisted the help of a male stripper to complete the hen's night.

We went back to Dot's new pad and got her busy with our gift of a French maid cos-play type costume for her wedding and we let the stripper into the house to hide in one of them rooms.

After we got Dot to finally settle down on a chair, the male stripper came out of his hiding place and shocked Dot to bits. You might note that Singapore is still a conservative society and the girls were not as responsive as the Sydney hen groups. I was the only one who laughed and whooped, while all the other sisters plus Dot were watching the guy awkwardly and did not quite know where to place their eyes. But they did warmed up in the end and we even stuffed small notes into the stripper's g-string and laughing at Dot cos the stripper was on her lap while we stuffed the notes in.

I shall only post one pic of Dot enjoying the strip/lap dance in her wedding gift of French maid costume as it is a child-friendly blog. But this has been a lovely evening indeed.
