Dempsey today
All ready to go out today. Our aim today is to go Orchard for a little walkabout and then to Dempsey to round the night up with Michelle, Sa & Fern.
Check out my new Converse Chuck Taylors. Chio boh?
Ernest misses Sakura and their famous mee goreng and we are glad that Sakura is still operating in the new Northpoint.
Ernest's favourite dish--> the Mee Goreng. He is sad that the portion is actually smaller now. I reckon it's because we were used to bigger portions in Sydney; that's why the portion is 'small' now
Hurhur...he looks hilarious
My favourite dish, the TomYam. It is my comfort food whenever I feel down or cold.
Onwards to Orchard via MRT. We were a bit apprehensive about the crowd on this PH today.
Strangely, there isn't any crowd today. The shops were quiet and there are not many people walking on the street. I guess the global recession has cast a gloomy feel over everyone these days. I saw the stores staff swatting imaginery flies and I sort of feel sorry for the store owners who have to pay rent everyday for that.
We walked Wisma, Taka, Paragon & Heeren and marvelled at the construction that is currently happening all over Orchard.
My Spiderman. Paragon's Jasons Supermarket and Toy 'R' Us are selling some Halloween costumes for Halloween and the range of costumes are actually quite impressive.
We ended up at Far East Plaza where it suddenly stormed when we stepped into the building. Talk about good timing. So we rested our tired legs at Ya Kun Kaya and had some bite for tea.
The rain then stopped somewhat after an hour or so and Tonny generously offered to drive us to Dempsey. He then proceeded to be our guide to Dempsey and drove us around to have a look. It is so hard to get to Dempsey. You need to drive in, or cab in. We were told it is for atas people only. You know, people like us. Heh.
Dempsey Hill. So excited!
Look! Jones the Grocer. Spin off from Sydney's Simon Jones
We had dinner at Jumbo Seafood Restaurant at Dempsey Hill and it was really a atas affair. We were seated al fresco and had piped in chill out jazz music throughout dinner.
Fancy chicken dish. They spread some special fish paste on the side of the chicken skin. The deep fried skin is crispy & the fish paste is beautiful when dipped in the honey dipping sauce. Yummy!
Cereal prawn. Another of Ernest's favourite. I havent had cereal cooked this way for the longest time. Ang moh usually add milk to their cereal, not prawns.
Baby squid. I love squid cooked this way.
My another kid. No lah...this one is Sa's niece. Cute, right?
Crabs! The very reason why we are at Jumbo's. No words can describe our happiness.
After dinner, we went to PS Cafe on Dempsey Hill for desserts. Fern and Tonny told us that celebrities always like to visit this cafe and they saw Utt there once. My eyes were peeled to keep a look out for any celebrities, but we were not lucky tonight.
We chatted just about everything under the sky. We dissect and speculate about Tonny & Ernest's cyber relationship, about buying Honda Jazz in Singapore, about touring Australia, about zhnging our Skyline. Time flies when we are enjoying ourselves. Thanks for this wonderful time everyone.
