Are you a real fan?
Enough of bad news! I have read some blogs where the writer moans of how bad life has been and how they wish to die/fly to another place/become another person, etc and does not seem to realise that their readers, however supportive they were, has been happily detracted other 'happier' blogs.
Not that I am not sympathetic, but being the forever optimistic person I am, I decided to move on. If life is hard, it will continue to be hard and unless I have a positive outlook on things, no one is going to stick around to pass me that tissue to wipe off the never ending tears.
And today's message, although hardly relevant, has somehow strike a chord with me. I seem to think that I might need to refocus and channel my energy into something else.
Pst John Ollis shared a pretty interesting message today. He said we all seem to think that we are attending a local church and considered ourselves to be a member of the church. But, do we know that we do not even measure up to even half of what a true blue fan is to his/her favourite sports team?
If we are a real fan of a soccer team for a example (as opposed to being a fan of God):
Real fans arrive early at a game.
Do we arrive at church early for service?
Real fans want the best seat in the house.
Do we all want to just sit at the back of church? Haha, I think all of us are guilty of that somehow or rather.
Real fan NEVER miss a game
Dun you feel guilty now about that non-existent illness that plagued you so much that you HAD to miss service?
Real fans sometimes turn up for training sessions as well.
Do we hang around in church even outside of service times?
Real fans pay to see a game.
And we complain how the church keep asking us to give money. To give offerings.
Real fans are vocal. They shout and scream to show support to their team.
Since when do we Christians raise above a decibel of 10 during praise and worship?
We worship in our hearts, remember? The bible verse where it says all people make a joyful loud noise while praising God is hardly relevant, or is it not?
Real fans memorise the words/slogans/team song.
Do we even memorise a verse off the bible?
Real fans are optimistic.
If Christians are optimistic, we would not have back-sliders I guess.
Real fans cheer on a bad day.
On a bad day, I guess some of us dun even want to turn up at church.
Real fans are unashamed of their colours and team.
I have seen many Christians pretending that they are not Christians when facing tough atheists.
Real fans are un-afraid to stand alone.
Will you as a Christian stand alone for your faith?
Real fans recruit their friends
Do you ever wanna share this good news to your friends? That you have decided to follow Jesus?
Real fans cry at defeats
Do you feel sad when people put down your faith as frivolous?
Real fans pay the cost.
When you as a Christian have to pay the cost for your faith, are you willing to do so?
Wah, I am so challenged to do something, to change something, to impact someone.
This message is so powerful!
Maybe I cannot be so good as to be a REAL FAN, but I certainly can try.
If I choose to wallow in self pity, I guess I can't get far. At all.
Food for thought....

WOW! You took down everything. Thank goodness someone did - a good message like that should always be referred to time and time again.
This one is a winner. Real christian.
