The Perfect Summer Melbourne Cup Dress

I know it is a bit late to do last minute shopping for the PERFECT SUMMER MELBOURNE CUP DRESS, given that Melbourne Cup Day is this coming Tuesday! Yesterday, after choir practice, I went to exchange my iBook battery for a new one at one of Apple's authorised reseller shops as there was a worldwide recall for overheating batteries.

Then churhies ZhiYuan, Jess, Ben, Channey, Jo and Kokko and I went for a sumptious lunch at Ramen Kan at Chinatown. It was fabulous. We shared a grilled eel, Agedashi tofu & tori kaarage for starters. I had a Tan Tan Ramen. ????! Definitely going back there again. Who will miss Ajisen ramen when you have Ramen Kan in Sydney???

After lunch, we went Bubble-teaing. I know! We should not waste time to chit-chat and do bubble tea. We should go straight to shopping since Melbourne Cup is this Tuesday! But the company is interesting and conversation just flowed from Falungung, to Japanese invading China many years ago, to pop singers in Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and China. We even had a friendly lesson on the Chinese language, as Channey and Jo are from Mainland China.

Only at about 5pm did we seriously started on our shopping trip. But man! If you are female, you would understand my fustration on the PERFECT SUMMER MELBOURNE CUP DRESS. There are so many designs, so many colours, so many materials, so many prices. I know I am aiming for a halter neck one as my big frame simply could not fit nicely on a tube one nor a spaghetti-strapped one. And I have way too many shirt-dress designed ones. But shop after shop, it is either the halter neck ones come in really cheapo materials or they come in garish bright colours which screamed 'I AM BRIGHT! LOOK AT ME INSTEAD OF THE HORSE!'

I give up. In the end, I bought a work blouse. Haha. I guess I will just wear my Japanese inspired Kimono top (cream with mini pale blue flower prints. Perfect sweet little summer top.) with my 3 quarter pants and killer heels. That should do the trick.
