I am going to throw you guys a pound or 2 for thought.
What makes a good church? Is it the leadership that you submit under that determines the quality?
Is it the people? The capable people who are able to run the show and makes the church the way it is? That we need capable people with great management skills and the right heart?
Or is it everyone's responsibility? Everyone, from the new comers to the core members. All have to play a part to make a church a church.
What IS the definition of church?
www.dictionary.com's first explanation for the word church is that it is a building for public Christian worship. Is it really? Strip away the cold and unfeeling building and what do you get? A building cannot praise nor worship God. A building do not know of God's miracles and a building knows nothing about God's love. Ultimately, church is made up of people.
People who are repentant of their sins and who are ready to commit to love God. Who gather in an area to give thanks and to learn more about God. They sing fast, cheerful songs to give praise, feeling and powerful songs to worship Him.
Realistically, if a church fails, it is the people who have failed. If a church is unable to multiply in numbers, if a church is unable to stir and challenge its members and if a church is unable to change lives, it is most likely that the fault lies with the people. Be it the leaders or the core members, the congregation or the fringe members, everyone has to admit that the success of a church lies with each and everyone.
We cannot expect the church leaders to work miracles nor can the leaders expect the members to do all the work of making a church work.
If God is for us, no devil can undo the vision God has placed in us.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.
