Doggy Chinese New Year Pish-Pash!

JOURNEY TO THE NORTH - IPOH
The last I spit the ink on my blog was that I am getting ready to board the bus with my wonderful Baba and Mama, brother and sister (sans cowgum) to Malaysia to celebrate the Chinese New Year. We have decided to leave 2 days prior to the eve of the Chinese New Year so that we can spend a day in Ipoh doing the touristy thing.

Sin-JB bus. We have to change another one at the customs. Check out my butt. Ain't it sexy. Buahaha.

Baba with brother doing the tourist thang. Check out Baba. He is giving you the EVIL eye....

Mama and sista showing their smiles

At 4 freaking am in the morning, we reached Medan Gopeng, Ipoh. Dunno what it means and dun really care. I wanna sleep!

Ahh...our first meal in Ipoh. Run-down looking place, but we have faith in the food they served.

Ipoh famous sizzling mee. We were blown away by the taste.

Wantan mee, the Ipoh way.

After the heavy breakfast, we went to famous Ipoh tourist spots such as the Perak Caves (Pi Li Dong) and Jusco, the shopping centre. I swear Jusco is the more famous tourist spots as Ipoh is really just a tired sleepy town-city combi.

Pictures of Pi Li Dong, my family and mini wide views of Ipoh

view of sunset from Jusco roof top. Seems like China all of the sudden

We had dinner at this homely restaurant place where we were served exotic vegetables, fried chicken and steamed fish in special sauce.

We were played host by my eldest uncle and his family. Thank you for your warm hospitality.

After the wonderful dinner, we were still not satisfied with what we have seen so far in Ipoh and we sorta got our cousin to bring us to Ipoh town center to visit yet another big shopping centre and we went to eat the famous bean sprouts and steamed chicken and had ice kacang with fruits and ice cream (apparently also famous). We were literally stuffed. We ended our Ipoh tour at 3 am that day and I am really really tired.

Time for bed.

CHANGKAT KRUING EXPOSED!
Chinese New Year eve on a wang-wang doggy year.

Check out our breakfast. We are still in Ipoh, but we will travel to our village after that. The delicious breakfast cost us less than S$10 for 5 pax.

We reached Changkat Kruing in the afternoon. Unable to stay in the house, we immediately went out with Baba on the excuse that we absolutely have to see Baba cut his hair. Kekeke...

That's all to it folks. Town at its best. Presenting Changkat Kruing.

We are not lying! Baba is having his hair cut!

While Baba is enjoying his traditional hair cut on blunt scissors and rusty shavers, Ernest took some intersting pictures of rubber tanning themselves on the road and Huey and I quenched our thirst on ripe coconuts served fresh.

Ernest and I went to the 'beach' of Changkat Kruning during evening time, which was really a river and a dried up lagoon, and he took alot of nice pictures.

Sunset was spectacular thru Ernest's camera lens.

Would you love to name your car 'PEE'?

BOOTELICIOUS REUNION DINNER

Ah...it's dinner time and reunion dinner ala Kong family is never the same without cowgum's presence. While she is enjoying her muddie mud crabs, we have our delicacies rolled out.

I must remember to blog this down. Do not ever have your dinner al fresco around Malaysian evening. You get fed, you feed the mosqitoes too.

Of course, after dinner, it was the usual Ang Pow giving ritual where aunts handed out ang pows with dire warnings to listen to your mothers, to do well in school, to earn lotsa money and to get married for those who are still single. Me and Ernest gave out our first batch of ang pows today and I felt so grown up.

Closer to midnight, Ernest and I trekked to the town square to witness the countdown fireworks party. Luckily, we managed to salvage a few treasures as the town square was full of people, motorbikes and people lit fireworks literally everywhere. I had one doing it a meter next to me and I nearly manifested and creamed him.

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR everyone!
