HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I am not sure why but it was deemed the theme of 2008 to be the best year yet.
And I am certainly looking forward to having the new year as my best year yet.
Approaching 28 years old (gosh, I sound old already!), I am sometimes comtemplating if I am happy where I am right now.

Yes, I am married (wah! someone actually loves me.) Yes, I got a good job, working overseas (which could sadly be a dream for most of my friends because of financials, family, friends, lack of courage, etc) Yes, I am actively involved in a healthy religion, Christianity and have great friends. But am I happy?

I guess this question will never be answered as the grass is always greener on the other side of the riverbank.

However, one is always free to make new year resolutions and this year will be a pretty personal one for myself. So here goes:

1) To be healthier, fit and to lose some flab.

This ought to be the most popular new year resolution that is never fulfilled.
I was looking through my old photos way back when I was in Bali with Ernest and now and I compared with dismay all the double-chins and the love handles that is propping up ever so casually in my current pictures now. We have to resort to camera tricks to make us slimmer. Want to know some? You can either take pictures from higher up so you have to tilt your head (and therefore your chin) to pose. Another trick is to stick your head out or turn slightly side-wise so that your double-chins don't show.

I read somewhere that if a woman tells everyone that their resolution this year is to lose some weight, she will have 40% chance of that really happening. So I am shouting out now I wanna lose weight and be fitter this year. Everyone must support me ok? If you see me with my mouth full of fatty or deep fried food, slap me.

Of course other measures I have taken includes signing up for a 8-week dance course in the city. I am resolving to see this through and I am going to Eastgardens on Thu late night shopping to get a proper sports bra.

Ernest promised we will go to our apartment gym more regularly as well so that is a bonus. I read as well I have to do gym 5 times a week and at least 30mins at a time to lose weight, and then 3 times a week to maintain.

Lastly, I am switching my diet to be vegetarian, fish and chicken for 5 days of the week. During these 5 days, I cannot have fatty or red meat, deep-fried or sweet. And Ernest is helping me as well by cooking more healthy too. No more soft drinks too.

2) To travel more

I realised from very young that I love to travel. So much so that I am actually not in Singapore now. From this year(like last year), I will try to travel more. Domestically or internationally. Australia is so big!

3) To learn to cook more

Haha, this may be the spur of the moment. I am into chubby hubby at the moment and Ernest swears by Jamie Oliver. Let's see if we can get into cooking good food on my healthy food days off (after we get a new blender, a new spatula, a new mixing bowl, etc.....)

These may be only 3 resolutions but fulfulling one is already hard enough!
Keep me in prayers so that I may at least fufill the keep fit one.
Until then, ciao!
