Ducks

Sometimes it surprises me when I talk to people, I get to learn something new when you thought it is going to be a casual chit-chat over the photocopying machine.

K and I were talking about the new building and how much work we can forsee for the preparation (we are in the same committee to see the move done smoothly)in the coming weeks when he said we must behave like a bunch of ducks on the water.

Immediately I was thinking of quacking like silly idiots around colleagues getting them ready for the move. I smiled in confusion and ask him why did he say that.

He said,' You would observe that the water is always very peaceful when ducks are floating on the water. But do you know that even though you thought that the duck is swimming along really effortlessly on the water, the duck is paddling like mad under the water surface?

We must learn to be like the ducks. Work like mad in private, but always compose yourself and carry yourself off properly in public.'

Wise words.
