23 Sep 2006 (Sat)
It was a beautiful day. Topping at 15degrees max, I shivered when the plane landed and the FA opened the door to let all of us out.

Upon arrival, we quickly changed into our REX polo tees and got standard supply of REX staff lanyard and a REX cap. I chose not to wear the cap cos I am not really a cappy person.
I was delegated to man the merchandise stall. We were selling our REX merchandise and all proceeds will go to the Sunflower House (a charity organisation for the mentally illed). I had a busy time selling our model planes (UP$50, now$40!), fridge magnets, pens, cooler bags, calculators, watches, etc.

My efficient partner - Chun.

Before the crowd came, I went to have a look around the grounds. There were many tents set up and REX took about 4 tents. One tent was our merchandise stand, one was the free caps giveaway stand, one was the kids' colouring contest stand and one was the REX VIP stand.
Irwin, Jac and Ben were manning the free caps stand.

Yah Wen took care of all the balloons. The balloons were in the colours of REX. Very nice!

Tahsin was very focused at the kids' colouring contest stand.

There were some farmers' stand selling homemade jams, chilli, honey, etc. I was itching to make some impulse buying, but decided against it. Have to save money!

There was a jumping castle for kids as well.

We even got a live band in to make some noise to liven up the atmosphere.

For the hungries, we even have a hotdog stand, soft drink stand and a milkshake stand to fill the tummies.

We also had a 5 min helicopter rides, a fake bucking bull for rodeo wannabes and we had our hangar opened for all public to come in and visit our facilities and to know more about the planes we use for flying.
Oops, I forgot, we even have ponies ride for kids. Too bad I am too heavy cos I really would like to try riding a pony.

I was so hungry, that I bought a steak sandwich and ate it hiding behind the merchandise stall.

Towards the end of a busy day helping out at the stands, we decided to take a break and explore the fun side of the Open Day. Irwin, Yue, Jac and Chun tried the bucking bull. It was seriously funny and we took videos of them trying to stay on the bull. Until I learn how to post videos, I am afraid I will not be able to showcase their talents here.
We went on the helicopter ride as well. Each time, the helicopter can take about 3 pax, so Irwin, Jac and Yue went on first. Me, Chun and Ben sorta hang around and took funny pictures.

What NOT to do while attempting a helicopter ride

Queenie the super dog. Throw a boomerang in any direction and she will be able to catch it
The future of REX.

They are back! Now it's our turn.

As we went on the helicopter, the blades made very loud noise and it was cold from the draught the blades made, but I was very excited as it is my first time on a helicopter.

That was Chun if you guys manage to catch a glimspe of the white pants. I was sitting all the way in, so it is hard to see me.
Ben has all the pictures of the view taken from the helicopter. When I get the pics from him, I will upload some.
End of the day. We were all tired after being in the sun the whole day. But we were all in very high spirits and when we went on our charter plane back, we cheered and had a fun time taking turns to look out at the cockpit which was not shut just for today for staff.

ZL9125, chartered for staff to go back to Sydney.

On the way back, we cannot resist camwhoring a bit more.
