Wagga Expedition
Been there, done that? I have.
Taking care of boss is very muuch like taking care of a little child hard at work on his science project. YOu have got to kept him fed and all little snacks and juices flowing. Dinner time is pretty much a PR affair as an external consultant is in town together with the science genius so it is all out Wagga dining experience.
I was there from last Friday til last night.
Wagga is essentially a country side town. It is pretty self-contained. There is a Myers store, Kmart, Target, Woolsworth and Coles. NOt too bad for a regional city with 57000 people living there.
But as a city girl I am, I am so not used to the quiet life. All shops closes at 5om everyday and 3pm on weekends. I won't be able to get any shopping done after 5 whether you have a genuine emergency or not. Only the supermarkets are graciously opened until 9pm.
As me and Shae drove around the town center at about 8pm at night to look for choice wines for dinner, we were greeted by rows and rows of closed shops and there were practically no cars on the road at that time of the night. 8pm! In Singapore, we might just be getting ready to go out to shop at Borders maybe.
After a week in Wagga, I have decided I could not get used to country life and I most probably never will in my life. When I finally boarded our company plane to leave Wagga yesterday evening, I could not help but shiver in excitement (or maybe I was feeling cold. Wagga is pretty blustery in winter). I can't wait to get back to Sydney!
I miss the traffice jams. I miss the reckless drivers and polluted Sydney air. I miss it all.
