Merah merah

Today marks the 5th day of Mags leaving.
Internet is still not up. I am starting to marvel at Australia internet provider's credibility. I have been here 3 weeks and I do not have my internet yet. I am still secretly tapping on a stranger's unsecured wireless internet access like a terrorist and I am not too proud of it.

Due to some 'merah merah' issue, my legs is quite weak this sat but we have a full day ahead of us. My 4 March is spent at the hair dressers and my boss's place.

First up, the hair dressers. My boss, May and Lynn decided to have a haircut. According to my boss, this particular hair dresser she frequents is even better than Toni and Guys. OK lah, she of course win mah.

Lynn has the famed hair dresser had it at her hair while May looks on. Our boss of course already had her hair cut by then and has disappeared on a shopping trip on her own.

After everyone has done with the fur shearing, we went to Paddy's market to buy food for tonight. The menu for dinner at my boss's place thus:
1) Wintermelon soup in prime pork ribs (proudly presented by Lynn)
2) Steamed sea bass ala China style ala Yue Yue
3) Steamy spicy mud crabs Malaysia style by chef May
4) Steamboat with assorted meats and processed food (by boss of course)

It was a feast alright. Do not be alarmed. It was actually that much food. Of course we could not finish it. What do we do with the rest? Ta bau of course! Typical Singaporean style. Eeverything that was left over is going to be our lunch for the week.

We were so stuffed, all of us were practically 'pregnant' by the time we staggered out of boss's house that night.

BBQ on a lazy afternoon
5 March 2006 marks a significant date for Sydney Harvest Church. Today is our church's evangelist service. Normally our attendance averages about 30, but today, because of the members outreach program on some orientation days before I came, today's attendance was about 75. Pst John Lee was so estatic!

We have so many new friends. My head went giddy after the introductions. We have friends from Korea, China, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore. I think we had one from Kenya, although I didn't really get to know him at all. It was a mouthful trying to remember Korean names. I must eat more fish to improve my memory.

The service started with a very robust praise and worship session. Then Bro Luke, Pst John's brother gave the message for offering. The drama was very funny. It was about a game show 'Who is the real god?!' An audience contestant must choose a god from 3 participants. The first god had a very bad temper and went around the stage stomping and basically made a lot of noise and throwing styroform thunders at everyone. The second contending god came in wearing a piece of white cloth, white flowy wig, rayban sun glasses and carrying a thick 2006 Australian Yellow Pages in his arms. He said his name is Confuse but he is not confused, but his followers are. He went on sprouting lotsa nonsense and sat down.

The third god sashayed in and announced that she is the Mother God. She created all evoluntionary things and said human evolute from a bacteria to a monkey then to a human.

Well, the audience contestant said that he dun think the first one is a god as God is caring and loving and not condemning. The first god got angry, shouted at the audience and stomped away.

The audience went on to say that God is not a confusing God and he gives us wisdom to understand all things. God is not prideful too. The second god was miffed. He said we are not worthy of his attention and his teachings and walked away, shaking his head and confused.

Lastly, the audience said that God create human as a splitting image of Himself and we are not so insignificant as to evolve from a bacteria and he rejected the third god too. The third god muttered,'Ungrateful brat!' and walked away with her nose high up in the air.

The drama got a standing ovation. It was great! It was so meangingful as well. God is everything the 3 gods are not. He is kind, loving, forgiving, wise and He created us!

After the drama, Pst John gave a very sincere and practical message about our attitudes. Do we want to be vessels of honour or do we want to be vessels of dishonour? In God's temple back in the olden days of Jerusalem, there are vessels of honour and dishonour. It shows that even in church, there are Christians with the correct attitudes, who come with a servant heart and a hunger to know God more and to love Him.

And there are some Christians who only talk the talk but not walk the walk. And flaky to boot.

Of course I would want to be the vessels of honour! We must be humble and have the positive attitude. In work, school or church, we must be an overcomer, not a problem adder. As the famous CHC mantra goes: Our attitude determines our altitude. Repeat after me: OUR ATTITUDE DETERMINES OUR ALTITUDE.

When Pst John gave altar call, I was touched to see many people responded. Pst John prayed for them and the whole church prayed for them. Heaven rejoices! More souls are added to the Kingdom of God today.

Service time is over, but fellowship has just begun! When Pst John annouces that, the BBQ pit was fired up and was hard at work providing 75 mouths with mouth-watering sausages, onions and beef patties. Typical Aussie BBQ but it was the fellowship that matters I got to know the new friends more and assured them to come back next week. God is good news. Why deprive yourself of it? I was only disappointed that my camera ran out of batteries and could not capture the whole shi-moosh.

Come next wed, Pst John invited us singaporeans to go to his place for some rounds of archery. I have never done any archery before and I am quite excited. I hope I can at least hit the board. No bull's eye never mind, just let me dun be so mah-lu and let the arrows fly everywhere. That blog would be real interesting indeed.

OK, I need to sleep now.
Tomorrow is monday again. Start of the work week. God, I pray for patience and wisdom for my work week. Amen.

Ta ta everyone!
