As I was lying on the bed last night, Ernest asked me what will I miss most when I go over to the city Down Under.
I tried to think of the things I WILL NOT miss. Tough luck. Things I will miss outweighs things I will not miss. Check it out.
Things I will miss:
1) Ernest's jokes, hugs and cooking
2) Ernest talking to me incessantly, even though I am already asleep.
3) My friends, my ya-ya sisterhoods, my desperate housewives, my G.A. (Gossip Anonymous) group, my cell group honchos
4) My papa and mama, my hoochy-mama sis and my dieting bro
5) Sheng-mian.....hmmm, glorious concoction of pork mince, veg, ikan bilis, egg, noodles and soup
6) SDL9867X
7) CHC. The wondeful presence of God in the service and the maddening crowd before and after the service
8) Singing on stage. It is great to serve on the choir. U get an excuse to powder yourself to death because 'the stage lights are very harsh and we need to see you with makeup on!' and you get to sing your heart out.
9) Meeting up with friends. A regular meet-up with friends is very theraputic indeed. I get to spent my money on things I do not need and talk about things I should keep my mouth shut about.
10) Channel 8 and U's chinese shows. I hate to think that I will be leaving my Guess, Guess, Guess shows, Yu Ler Bai Fen Bai shows, Chinese serial dramas behind. I so want to know the ending!
Things I will NOT miss:
1) Dismal customer service in Singapore. Enough said. Check out the latest government initiative: the GEMS TVC and print ad on how one saliva-dripping of a sales person made Mr Lawrence's day by selling him one shoe off the mannequin on display. You call that service? No thanks, I would not want to buy goods on display at all.
2) Helping my mum out at her Yu Tiao stall. The helping out part is ok, it's the silly customers that get on my nerves, You say you want a hot Yu Tiao. Being service-oriented, I of course will serve you a hot one. Then you yelped and shrieked why I gave you a hot Yu Tiao. Am I being paraniod here, but did I get the orders wrong anywhere? OK, conceding this may be one of the reasons why customer service is lacking in Singapore, but if you are a consumer and you are reading this now, please be reasonable when you buy things and MANAGE YOUR EXPECTATIONS.
3) Traffice jams. When the government rolls out the initiative to curb the influx of purchased cars to lighten the traffic situation in the small island country Singapore, it simply do not make sense when you hear weekly news on how much cheaper a car costs everyday passed and you get stuck in a traffic jam on almost every road junction. Dun make much sense to me.
4) Yucky local shows. I have enough of SuperIdols, School Idols and Lifeline. It is almost funny to see the shows I will miss most are the ones from Taiwan and HongKong. It's time for Mediacorp to hire FTs from the abovesaid countries to write good TV shows. Maybe the advertising revenue will then increase.
5) Wonky kids. Maybe they are overdosed from candies or mother-coodling, but I am so keeping my arms' length from Singapore children. They are spoilt, obnoxious and loud. When I say loud, they are very LOUD. You can hear them screaming 2 streets away if their parents dun buy them the toys they want. Say no to kids. Yeah.
