We went to watch this movie, Secretary yesterday. The advertising on the newspaper screamed rauchy! with headlines like 'This show about a demanding boss and his secretary who likes to give into his demands.' How does that sound? Sound sleazy rite? Well, I was proven wrong.
This is actually a story about a girl, Lee, who suffered from self-mutilation as she grows up in an abusive family. She was sent to an institution, but came back when her sis got married. She went to a typing school, got her speed and her cert and went to apply for a post of secretary in a lawyer's office.
Occasionally she still self-mutilate, but once she was caught by her boss, Greg. Greg tells her to loosen up, and ask her to take a walk home after work so that she can relax. Soon, Lee falls in love with him.
Ok, this is funny. Once, she had a typo error, but no matter how many times she retype the letter, there will always be a typo error or 2. Greg then ask her to place her palms on the table, bend over close to the letter and read it out loud. Then when she is reading the letter, Greg spanked her on her backside. Yeah, unbelieveable. Spank her on her ass. Real hard as you can hear the echos off the walls. All she did was to moan. Hahaha!
Soon, she craved for the spankings and made many typo errors on purpose. Greg somehow sensed that her feelings towards him had grown and sacked her.
Lee sort of went remote with her feelings towards everyone and agreed to marry her high school friend who had a nervous breakdown a few years ago.
When she went testing for her wedding dress, she suddenly plucked up courage and went to confess her love for Greg. In haste to stop her, Greg made her sit down on his chair at the office, ask her to place both feet on the ground and palms on the table and not to move until he comes back. Of course Greg went and did not consider coming back at all.
Lee sat Greg's table for days without moving. No matter how much persuasion she received, she was adamant to sit there until Greg comes for her. At last, Greg was touched by her love for him and they got married. And they lived happily ever after.
Well, I guess it's just a plain love story with a slight perversion twist. A delightful change from all the sappy romance movies we have been getting from Hollywood. Not bad, but I think the movie has been too strictly labelled as RA though. This movie looks as though it may get normal airing in Brisbane's SBS channel on week nights.
